Event medical consultancy begins during the planning stages of the event. REDSTAFF Medical will partner with your event organising team to analyse the activities and risks of the event, and recommend the appropriate level of coverage that fits within range of your budget.

2. Event Medical Coverage

Event medical coverage involves having qualified medical professionals such as paramedics, nurses, and first aiders on-site in the event, as well as the necessary medical equipment and supplies on-site to respond to medical emergencies that may occur during the event.

You may engage us for either Event Medical Consultancy or Event Medical Coverage, or both.

As the principle of event medical cover is to provide medical care when emergencies happens, our primary service will be emergency pre-hospital care (e.g. cardiac arrest in a sporting event).

However, we are not limited to just the provision of emergency care. As medical professionals, we do take care of participants' well-being too, and that includes minor injuries and ailments occurring in the event (e.g. a sprained ankle while in a concert) as well as looking out for distressed participants (e.g. affected by loud noises or crowds).

Since our inception, we've covered university sporting events, public exhibition carnivals, concerts, film productions, social enterprise outreach projects, youth development programmes, and many more! Our smallest event was ~10 participants, and largest event was ~10,000 participants!

We begin by assessing the event's specific requirements, risks, and audience profile, to gain a better understanding of the event. We use this information to draft an event medical operations plan, where we determine the relevant staffing levels and procedure for responses and emergencies. We then staff the medical coverage plan with the appropriate first aid and medical professionals required for the event. Our event medical operations will depend greatly on the event medical plan, which is drawn up during the planning stages for the event. For small and localised events, a common deployment would be a medical team (of 2x or 3x) in a first aid post. For larger events or events spanning a route, multiple teams will be on-site and may move around.

At REDSTAFF Medical, we do not operate our own ambulance fleet (“REDSTAFF Ambulances”).

Our core service model prioritises the deployment of first aiders, medics, and other medical professionals who remain on-site throughout the entire event, over ambulance platforms..

Our approach offers several key advantages:

• Continuous coverage: Medical personnel are always present, even if an evacuation occurs.

• Greater mobility: Our teams can be deployed on foot, bicycle, or using event-provided vehicles to reach patients faster, especially in venues where ambulances are restricted to road access.

• Cost-effectiveness: For low-risk or localised events, full ambulance standby may not be necessary and can be substituted with agile, skilled responders.

We instead partner with trusted private ambulance providers to offer event organisers access to ambulance platforms often at rates more competitive than standard market pricing.

When Are Ambulances Needed?

Ambulances remain a vital asset for certain event profiles. They:

• Carry lifesaving equipment and medications.

• Allow for rapid transport to hospitals in time-critical situations.

However, there are trade-offs:

• High cost per unit for standby.

• Coverage gaps can arise: once an ambulance departs for hospital evacuation, it is no longer available on-site.

Example Scenario

Imagine a large-scale event at Gardens by the Bay. An ambulance would be restricted to road-accessible points.

Meanwhile, REDSTAFF medics on bicycles or on foot could patrol the full route, initiate immediate care, and activate the ambulance only if evacuation is truly needed. While the ambulance is away on evacuation, your event remains covered, because we’ve already planned for it.

Tailored Medical Coverage

If your event requires ambulances, we’ll coordinate with our ambulance partner to ensure effective deployment and optimal site access. We also welcome the use of organiser-provided response platforms such as:

• Safety vehicles

• Bicycles

• Boats or kayaks

• Golf carts

This flexibility allows us to maintain high medical readiness across a variety of terrains and event types.

We aim to deliver excellent value for the investment made in ensuring participant safety while not letting cost/price be a restrictive determinant of services provided. Safety is still our top priority!

REDSTAFF Medical prefers using the event organiser's communication systems so that we are together on one net.

If the event organisers are renting two-way radios ("walkie-talkies"), do rent extra sets for our medical teams to use. The exact number will be provided in the event medical plan.

If the event organisers are using their own two-way radios ("walkie-talkies"), do loan us extra sets for our medical teams to use. The exact number will be provided in the event medical plan.

If the event organisers are using PMR446 two-way radios ("license-free walkie-talkies"), our medical teams are able to connect to the channels used by the organiser's PMR446 radios.

Unfortunately no, we do not (and cannot) provide any form of health checkup/screening services at your event, regardless if the health screening is intended for your event's participants or event's staff and crew.

Our primary service provision is the emergency pre-hospital care for events (e.g. cardiac arrest in a sporting event), as well as participants' well-being inclusive of minor injuries and ailments occurring in the event (e.g. a sprained ankle while in a concert). Our diagnostic tools are meant to assess the patient(s) of an incident, and not meant for health screening.

*special population = e.g. children, elderly, people with disabilities Certainly! As our focus is on emergency pre-hospital care and the management of participants' well-being, we can manage any emergencies or medical issues that may arise from the event participants. For special populations with a greater risk of developing medical issues, we will also deploy more medical professionals (e.g. paramedics, nurses) on-site.

However, we will not be able to provide medical chaperones and accompany/escort/supervise special population participants in the event. Our purpose is still medical coverage for any medical emergencies/issues that may arise.
